Safety Rules

Be extremely careful not to get any water into the molten lead, or pewter alloy.
Even a small drop will explode into steam and violently splatter hot metal.
Wear safety glasses while working with hot metal.  Work in a well ventilated area.
Keep food and drink out of the work area.
Never ingest any of the filings and wash hands well after working with lead/alloys.
Melting or handling Lead-Free Pewter is not harmful but follow the above instructions.
Melting lead and casting lead objects will expose you and others in the area to lead, which is known to cause birth defects; other reproductive harm and cancer.
